How joining works
Joining 7th Swindon is straightforward. Here is what happens, from finding the right section to your child's first night of adventure.

Find your section
Tell us your child's age and we will show the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Explorer meetings that fit. It takes less than a minute.

Join the waiting list
When you have found the right section, add your child to our waiting list on Online Scout Manager. This is the official application and only takes a few minutes.

We review availability
Places depend on how much space a section has and how many volunteers are helping. We keep the list fair and get in touch as spaces come up.

We get in touch
When a place is ready in the right section, we will contact you to say hello and arrange a first visit.

Start the adventure
Your child comes along, meets their new friends and leaders, and the adventures begin.
Why there is sometimes a waiting list
Scouting is popular, and we will only ever take on as many young people as we can look after really well. The number of places in each section depends on the space we meet in and, most of all, on how many adult volunteers we have to run a safe, brilliant programme.
Adding your child to the waiting list does not guarantee a place or a start date. Where and when a place is offered depends on local availability and a friendly chat with our team. We will always be honest with you about what to expect.

More volunteers means more young people can join, and sooner. You do not need any experience, and many roles are flexible. Even an hour now and then makes a real difference.
